The Venice Photo Book
The Venice photo book "Venezia dall'alto / Venice from Above" gives you the extraordinary and exclusive opportunity of admiring Venice and her Lagoon from above; this - which we may call an art book as well - was conceived and executed by an extraordinary photographer and aviator, Giampaolo Agostinelli, who began experiencing this thrill while practicing free-fall parachuting over San Nicoḷ del Lido airfield. His flights in the Venetian skies as a private pilot, and his relations with the Aeronautical authorities and the Police Flying Units, allowed him to develop a special photographic narration that is found here, translated in a series of fascinating images. Two years after the "test" published in December 2007, this first edition -- with the addition of even more pictures and a map -- will surprise you. We have selected 114 photos out of more than 3,000 recent images from our archive, and added maps to every image - marking the "you are here" spot, with some brief captions to help readers finding their way in this imaginary (or guide them in a real) journey thru the city. The color photographs, many of them full page or double page, will offer you the insider's view. Curated by journalist and art specialist Rosalba Giorcelli, this 2009 bilingual edition (Italian / English) has been translated into English by Patricia Thomas. Preface by Luana Zanella, city councillor for Culture. "Venice from Above", is published by AWD Group Publishing, and is available in economic and "luxury" version (see "the Perfect Gift" webpage for details about this Venice photo book). Editions in other languages are being prepared, also upon request. The Venice photo book jacket of the "luxury" version can be personalized with corporate logos.
